We work through and with partners – from major foundations to SMEs and from individuals to Governments – to create economically successful communities and businesses. We do this through our innovative cultural and creative initiatives.
We deliver inspiration, ideas, implementation... and impact.
We do this strategically, developing policies and programmes, and directly, providing services for businesses and independent practitioners in the creative industries sector.
Since it was established in 2000, CIDA UK has:
- Advised and worked with over 2,500 creative individuals
- Advised and worked with over 1,300 creative businesses
- Created more than 600 jobs
- Recorded in excess of £15m increase in client sales
- Secured in excess of £9.3m investment in the sector
We are a completely independent creative business, set up and run by successful creative practitioners. The creative knowledge and skills we offer our clients are the creative knowledge and skills we successfully put into practice every day ourselves.
Introducing our project
The Singapore Workforce Development Agency has engaged CIDA to develop a Competency Map and Workforce Skills Qualifications Framework for Creative Industry professionals in Singapore.
To do this CIDA will first conduct a comprehensive international comparative study of continuing education and training systems for the Creative Industries cluster.
We will take our findings out to employers and practitioners in the sector cluster and, working with them, recommend the best practices and key features to be incorporated into the development of a Creative Industries Workforce Skills Qualifications Framework system for Singapore.
Having developed a Competency Map and Qualifications Framework, and validated it with the Creative Industries, we will identify critical areas for manpower development interventions. The result will be an effective, authoritative and competency-based training infrastructure, and the practical skills and knowledge acquired will help workers across all levels stay relevant in their changing workplace.
Introducing the Singapore Workforce Development Agency
The Singapore Workforce Development Agency (WDA) seeks to enhance the competitiveness and employability of employees and jobseekers, thereby building a workforce that meets the changing needs of Singapore’s economy. Working with industry, unions, employers, economic agencies, professional associations and training organisations, the agency’s efforts are targeted at supporting industry growth by building a pipeline of workers through training and skills upgrading, and raising industry standards through enhancing manpower capabilities.
In Colombia we have worked with Fundacion Corona and the British Council to establish a business support network for creative businesses and individual practitioners.
In India we are working with the British Council and the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore on a programme to support and encourage creative entrepreneurs.
In the USA, we are working with Creative Tampa Bay and Tampa Digital to help create an infrastructure for the development and support of creative entrepreneurs.
With Holland, France and Germany, we are working to retain creative talent in non capital cities by developing and strengthening the infrastructure for creative and cultural businesses.
With Finland, Sweden, Belgium, France and Spain, we are working with our partner Skillscene to develop a European competency-based skills framework for the live arts.
